Greubel Forsey Presents The QP à Équation With Reinvention Of The Perpetual Calendar

On the heels of winning the Calendar Prize award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Greubel Forsey has launched the QP à Équation timepiece, reinventing the esteemed perpetual Calendar (QP).

The reinvention of the QP brings in the Equation of Time into the perpetual calendar, in addition to practical, new functions to facilitate clarity. The simplification of the complete perpetual calendar display and how to set it through the use of the bi-directional crown was prioritized. The Mechanical Computer is easy to set despite the multiple features on the watch.

Greubel Forsey’s patented Mechanical Computer is a sophisticated coding mechanism that shifts the indications on the watch’s dial and caseback by a stack of cams with movable fingers. The full mechanism is integrated within the movement, overturning the usual way of setting indications while displaying them on the dial and caseback.

The calendar display has three in-line windows showing the day, date and month.

The dial side of the watch designates leap years, the 24 hours of the day and night, the day of the week, the large date, the month, the hours, the minutes and the seconds, and the 72-hour chronometric power reserve. The movement side has the Equation of Time with the months, seasons, solstices and equinoxes and the calendar year. The day, date and month are displayed on the inline main dial display, while other less-sought information of the calendar is featured on the back.

Another of the brand’s inventions, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes, provides high timekeeping performance thanks to its fast rotational speed and inclined 25° angle.

The new watch from the Swiss luxury brand features a multi-level chocolate-colored gold dial that is complemented by the 5N red gold case. The fine and artistic watchmaking found on the new QP à Équation keeps true to Greubel Forsey’s leading standing in the horology world.
