Glashütte Original Dives Into The Great Outdoors With SeaQ In Reed Green
While many timepieces are created, and positioned, as a diving watch, their actual use is often much broader. As they are robust, reliable, and of course waterproof, they become a natural companion for people who enjoy an active lifestyle. Glashütte Original realizes this too and therefore focuses with the reed green version of the successor of their first diving watch on land.
The SeaQ was initially launched in 2019, celebrating the 50th-anniversary of the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200, the model with which Glashütte Original started its legacy in diving watches. Therefore, the SeaQ is also packed with references to its successor, which results in a vintage-inspired, yet still pleasantly contemporary timepiece. One of the key qualities of the SeaQ is that the watch is relatively compact. Its stainless steel case has a diameter of 39.5mm, and the thickness is a mere 12.15mm. This means a lot for the wearing comfort of the watch, as smaller watches not only tend to sit better on the wrist, they are also lighter.
The reed green version gives the watch a ‘forest-vibe,’ emphasizing its versatility even further. It is fitted with either a stainless steel bracelet, black rubber, or a grey fabric strap, and just as at home on the wrist when you go hiking or mountain biking as underwater. Its bold numerals and hour markers, combined with the hands’ distinct shape, make reading the time a breeze. The green dial is matched by a ceramic bezel in the same color. With its screw-down crown and case, ensuring 200-meter water resistance, there is very little the SeaQ can’t handle. Precision is ensured by the automatic manufacture caliber 39-11, which boasts a refined finish and features such as a swan-neck fine adjustment. While you cannot admire the movement, as the watch lacks a see-through caseback, it is still reassuring that you can rely on true and traditional German quality when you are out exploring.
