Girard-Perregaux Unveils Cat’s Eye Jewelry Timepiece
This week luxury watchmaker Girard-Perregaux unveiled its newest high jewelry piece. The Cat’s Eye timepiece features more than 1,000 snow-set diamonds and a tourbillon with a gold bridge on a mother-of-pearl dial.
The Cat’s Eye begins with an oval white gold case adorned with diamonds in a “snow” setting, which requires that the stones be positioned in such a way as to leave nothing else visible apart from the crimping grains. According to the manufacture, the setting alone took three weeks. Meanwhile, the tourbillon with the hand-engraved gold bridge is positioned at six o’clock on the dial, powered by the GP09700 manufacture movement. An alligator strap with snow-set folding clasp completes the look, and a personalized engraving can be added on the caseback.
