DEVON The Tread 2 To Debut At BaselWord
In 2010, The DEVON Tread 1 was nominated for the GRAND PRIX D’HORLOGERIE DE GENEÌVE for Best Design and Concept, this was the first time an American watch business had ever been included in the competition among the field of very elite and respected brands. Now DEVON is building upon the triumph of the Tread 1 with a further groundbreaking design The Tread 2. The Tread 2 will deliver DEVON’s patent-pending Time Belt technology in a package that’s more elegant than the avant-garde Tread 1.
Some of the more notable innovations are a one-of-a-kind fastening system that is used to secure the bezel to the casing, the four unique lugs which help to define the shape of the watch as well as the crown’s distinctive articulating arm. All of these features offer a unique and distinctive character for the Tread 2.
Similar to the Tread 1, the movement relies heavily on aerospace technology. The glass-reinforced Nylon Time Belts used to exhibit the current time were modified directly from aircraft instrumentation. The belt assemblies remain on a central chassis allowing for clearance of the moving parts while creating the impression that the parts are suspended within the case. Two tremendously compact micro-step motors drive the movement of the hour and minute belts with effectiveness, exacting power, and persistent precision. The lubricant-free pulley system moves generously thanks to the incorporation of jeweled bearings.
Led by creator Scott Devon and located in Los Angeles, California, DEVON Works, LLC is a design lab dedicated to creating pioneering luxury products that demonstrate the American spirit. DEVON Works began with the design of the exclusive Devon GTX supercar and continued with the innovative Tread 1 timepiece.
DEVON will debut the watch at March’s Baselworld Watch and Jewelry Show in an elite, invitation-only private showing to retailers and press. Fabrication will begin shortly thereafter and deliveries are scheduled to begin in June, 2012.
