A Conversation with Balsam Al Ayoub on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Rendez-Vous Timepiece
A conversation with Balsam Al Ayoub on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Rendez-Vous line reveals the sophistication and ease of this greatly popular timepiece. Balsam and her sister Lulwa are friends of Jaeger-LeCoultre as well as Olympic fencing champions. They also run a charity to promote the development of sport in Kuwait.
Which is your favorite Jaeger-LeCoultre watch and why?
My favorite Jaeger-LeCoultre watch to wear is the Rendez-Vous because of the small size together with the diamonds – it looks elegant and classic on my wrist. I like that the watch can also be casual and chic. I fell in love with it from the moment I wore it.
Since when did you start collecting watches?
I first started collecting watches when I was eight years old. I remember when the fashion was for Swatch watches, and it is from this time that I started collecting many stylish brands for kids and teenagers.
Which other Jaeger-LeCoultre watches do you own?
I don’t own any other Jaeger-LeCoultre watches. The one I am wearing now makes me feel as if I own a lot of them. It’s a piece that brings together the beauty of all Jaeger- LeCoultre watches .
What attracts you to the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand?
Jaeger-LeCoultre and I have chemistry – we both love classic styles. It is a historic Manufacture, and I love the fifties, sixties even the 1900s styles that are reflected in the brand’s creations. The detailing in the timepieces embodies this era making it beautiful and timeless. As a sports champion, I feel a sense of pride being a Friend of the Brand for Jaeger- LeCoultre.
How often do you buy a watch?
It depends on the occasion. Sometimes in a year I may by one or two watches, but sometimes none. I tend to buy a certain style of watch, for example I love watches with a circular face and embedded with diamonds. Silver and brown leather are my favorite type of straps.
