Christie’s Important Watches Auction Fetches $22,249,809 in Hong Kong

After a tremendous auction season in Geneva, Christie’s travelled to Hong Kong, where the results were just as spectacular! On Wednesday, November 27, the luxury auction house achieved US$22,249,809 at its Important Watches sale.

The auction was sold 92% by lot and by value, with 539 of 587 lots sold. Patek Philippe timepieces were as popular as ever, with twelve of the top fourteen lots from the brand. Here are the top five lots:

A rare Patek Philippe Ref. 5016 timepiece sold for US$549,504. This timepiece is a Platinum Minute Repeating Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Wristwatch With Retrograde Date, Moon Phases and Leap Year Indication. Manufactured in 1994.

Du Bois et Fils Musical Watch

An 18K Gold, Enamel and Pearl-Set Keywound Musical Watch with Four Figure Automata sold for US$533,952. This circa 1800 timepiece was originally made for the Chinese market. It is unsigned but attributed to Du Bois et Fils.

A fine Patek Philippe Ref. 5033 sold for US$409,536. This Tonneau-Shaped Automatic Minute-Repeating Annual Calendar Wristwatch was sold with its original certificate, as well as an additional case back and box.

A rare stainless steel Patek Philippe Ref. 5004 sold for US$409,536. This circa 2012 Steel Perpetual Calendar Split Seconds Chronograph Wristwatch With Moon Phases, 24 Hour And Leap Year Indication was sold with its original certificate and an additional case back.

And last but not least, another Tonneau-Shaped Patek Philippe! This Ref. 5013 Platinum Automatic Minute Repeating Perpetual Calendar Wristwatch With Retrograde Date, Moon Phases And Lear Year Indication sold for US$378,432. Manufactured in 1999.
