Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Resonance 3
The Toric Resonance 3 is a minute repeater with a prominent utilitarian secondary function: a large date window. In fact, this is the largest instantaneous date display in the watch world, measuring only 5.9mm wide – and 2.9mm for each numeral. It is not the first time Parmigiani Fleurier has combined a large date with a minute repeater. However, the watchmaker has never before offered an instantaneous jump of such a colossal date on this caliber, the manual wound PF359. The feat is achieved with a double cam system that releases the numerals for just a fraction of a second every 24 hours to allow the instantaneous jump. The strike is a cathedral chime, which resonates in an 18k white gold case. The gongs, which are visible through the sapphire crystal on the caseback, are uniquely serpent-shaped and blued, purely for aesthetic reasons. The dial is guilloched opaline, with black lacquered applied indexes. There is a beautiful coin edge bezel.
