Can You Find The Easter Eggs Hidden In This Jaquet Droz Watch?
It’s Easter, which means it’s time for an egg hunt. But can you find the eggs hidden in this Jaquet Droz? Hint: They are starring right at you!
Presented at Baselworld 2015, this Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Marquetry watch is actually made with hundreds of pieces of quail eggs shells crushed and set by hand by a master craftsman. For years, The Petite Heure Minute collection has featured dials that have showcased the various decorative techniques. Dubbed the “quail eggshell mosaic,” the brand’s latest technique allows its artisans to create motifs in different shades from yellow to braun from a set of quail egg shells.
The dial of this limited edition Petite Heure Minute Marquetry watch is made out of hundreds of these pieces. For this particular watch, the artist has depicted a beautiful panorama in an 18-ct Red gold case featuring an elephant in the foreground. Behind, the sapphire case back of the watch features Caliber 2653, a self-winding movement made in-house by Jaquet Droz.
The brand’s Petite Heure Minute Marquetry is a limited edition of 8 pieces, each one slightly different from the next by of the technique, and priced at $94,500.
