Breguet and Blancpain Unveil New Exhibitions in Geneva
With the watch world gathered at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, luxury watchmakers Breguet and Blancpain took the opportunity to open new exhibitions. From January 20 to February 23, the manufactures will have their exclusive exhibitions on display at Geneva’s Cité du Temps.
The “Breguet, Historic Innovations” exhibition features a selection of important timepieces from the manufacture’s storied history, including the first wristwatch.
Meanwhile, the “Blancpain and Projet Gombessa” celebrates the manufacture’s ties to the underwater world, including Project Gombessa, a 40-day trip to South Africa where the manufacture teamed up with world-renowned biologist and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta to capture the legendary bottom-dwelling sea creature called the coelacanth. The exhibition features deep sea dive video footage, photographs and original diving equipment.
In honor of their exhibition’s unveiling, Breguet hosted a private cocktail on January 22. Nayla Hayek, Chair of the Board of Directors of Swatch Group and Marc A. Hayek, President & CEO of Breguet welcomed nearly 500 guests from all around the world.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Wei Koh, founder and editorial director of Revolution magazine awarded Mr. Hayek three awards; “Man of the Year” (for the second consecutive year), “Best Women’s Watch” for the Breguet Reine de Naples Day/Night, and “Best Revolutionary Watch” for the Jaquet Droz Charming Bird.
