Best Preview Watches for SIHH 2014
The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, which runs January 20-24 in Geneva, is a luxury watch fair for the introduction of new treasures – to the trade only – by some of the world’s top luxury brands. I have been covering the fair since its inception 24 years ago, and it is always a thrill to see the new horological wonders presented by the world’s elite watch companies. We will bring you live coverage of the event, but for now, here is a sneak preview of a few of the new goodies set to make their debut.
Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon High Jewelry, with 418 invisibly set baguette diamonds, totaling approximately 19.6 carats. It features hand-wound caliber 2795 with a tourbillon.
Cartier Tank MC Two-Tone Skeleton, with the polished bridges cut out to form the brand’s signature Roman numerals, openworked to reveal the movement, caliber 9611 MC. The case is 18k pink gold.
IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 is water-resistant to 200 bar (2,000 meters), with a titanium case and minimalist design. It features the rugged IWC-manufactured caliber 80110, with Pellaton winding system.
Greubel Forsey Platinum GMT, with a 24-second tourbillon with 25° inclination, a 24-hour second time zone indication with a “globe” completing each rotation. Now with a platinum case.
AP Royal Concept Tourbillon GMT, with an ultra-light titanium case and white ceramic bezel, pushpieces and crown. The bridge of the hand-wound caliber 2930 movement is also white ceramic. With a twin barrel and 10-day power reserve.
