Swatch Group is Optimistic Thanks to Product Diversity

Swatch’s ambitious goal of earning $8.1 billion in 2012 is on track, according to CEO Nick Hayek. Last year’s sales broke records at $7.5 billion for the Swiss watchmaker. This year’s economic slowdown in China has been a cause of considerable anxiety for producers of high-end watches and other luxury goods, but Hayek says Swatch is uniquely positioned to ride out the storm. “I am far more worried about the increasing influence of finance than I am about possible problems in China,” he said in an interview for the German newspaper Handelsblatt. As the world’s largest watchmaker, Swatch’s portfolio of brands READ MORE

Breguet: Watchmaker, Aviator, Innovator’ Now at Bal Harbour Shops

Swiss watchmaker Breguet is an old salt when it comes to navigating the Atlantic, so it was no surprise to anyone last month when members of New York’s elite found themselves climbing aboard the USS Intrepid to toast the company’s rich history. The celebration has since moved to South Florida, at the Breguet boutique in Bal Harbor Shops. The exhibit, titled “Breguet: Watchmaker, Aviator, Innovator,” hosts a variety of artifacts from the multi-faceted company, including the invention that secured Breguet a place in history: an accurate marine chronometer. In the days before satellites, or even radio, a ship’s navigation was READ MORE

With that, Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver recently shared his thoughts about the challenges of operating within a European debt crisis, and now an economic slow-down in China. “The Swiss watch industry has had a record year in 2011 and will do another in 2012, but the year is READ MORE
