Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: IWC Aquatimer Deep Three

Last year, IWC revamped its Ingenieur collection, introducing several new pilot’s watches. This year, it focused on diver’s watches, with eight new references in its Aquatimer collection. Of these, the Deep Three, comes equipped with a mechanical depth gauge that is water resistant to 100 meters. It is multi-functional, showing the current dive depth, the deepest dive of the session and, with the help of the seconds hand, it will also track ascent speed to a maximum of 10 meters per minute. The dive timer works by using an external ring that is indexed on an internal rotating bezel, which READ MORE

Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Omega Speedmaster Mark II

The Mark II is a reissue of the original 1969 model, which contained the Caliber 861, the hand-wound movement used in the Omega watches that accompanied astronauts to the moon in 1965. The new Mark II, to be introduced at Baselworld next month, has been updated with an automatic movement and a prominent tachymeter scale that is illuminated from beneath by an aluminum ring filled with Super-LumiNova. Fluorescent orange accents – central chronograph seconds hand, minute track, 30-minute counter hand and hour totalizer hand at 6 o’clock – stand out against the grey dial. The brushed stainless-steel bracelet features Omega’s READ MORE

The DB28’s triangle-shaped bridge is unique to De Bethune, as are the self-regulating twin barrel, silicon/white gold balance, balance-spring with flat terminal curve, triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system, spherical moonphase indication and silicon escape-wheel. It contains a mechanical hand-wound movement, caliber DB2115, with a hand-decorated and snailed mainplate, and hand-polished and chamfered steel parts. It has a six-day power reserve. READ MORE

Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Resonance 3

Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Resonance 3

The Toric Resonance 3 is a hand-wound minute repeater with several distinguishing features. What you notice first is the large date. Parmigiani says it is the largest instantaneous date display in the watch world, measuring 5.9mm wide – 2.9mm for each numeral. These large numerals require huge amounts of energy to activate and then stop them without rebound following the instantaneous jump. This is accomplished by a double cam system. The first accumulates energy to arm the large lever, releasing it every 24 hours onto a 31-tooth wheel. The second cam serves as a brake, controlling a spring-mounted lever to READ MORE

Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph 100

Carmelo Anthony’s Haute Time Watch of the Day: Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph 100

For those who remember the thrilling Bi-Frequence 1000, with the Villeret movement that measured elapsed times to 1/1000th of a second, this is a similar, more accessible version. It measures elapsed intervals to 100th of a second according to the same principle, with the newly developed Montblanc/Minerva Caliber MB M66.25. It vibrates at a frequency of 50 hertz or 360,000 vph, with two balance wheels – one dedicated to the chronograph and the other to regular time, each powered by a separate mainspring barrel. It is equipped with two zero-return mechanisms: one for the 100ths of a second and another READ MORE
