The Watches & Winners Of The 2019 Oscars

Among them was Spike Lee, who got his very first Oscar. It was awarded to him in the category of Adapted Screenplay for his work as co-writer of BlacKkKlansman. Donned in his signature purple, he had around his wrist one of the classic icons of the watchmaking industry; the Reverso Classic Large Duoface with small seconds by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Rami Malek also picked up a golden statue for playing the role of Freddy Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Dressed in a classic tuxedo, he picked a watch that complemented his outfit perfectly. With his Roman numerals, blued hands and characteristic case shape is the Cartier Tank Américaine made for black tie, and glamorous events like the Oscars!

Malek was not the only one who opted for a Cartier, as also Mahershala Ali wore one during the event. Dressed in a style that only he can pull off with ease, Ali picked up a well-deserved statue for his role in the movie ‘Green Book.’ His watch of choice to do so with was the Santos de Cartier Skeleton.

Christian Bale wore a subtle black and blue combination to the award show, that suited the movie star very well. He also complemented this with the perfect watch, as he opted for the Santos de Cartier with a dial that goes from jeans blue at the center to nearly black at the edge.

Bradley Cooper joined the stage with Lady Gaga to sing their Oscar-nominated song ‘Shallow.’ Around his wrist was a very special IWC. The Big Pilot that he wore was a one of a kind piece, donned with a special engraving, which will be auctioned by Sotheby’s and of which all the proceeds will go to the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation. A commendable cause, adding another aspect to this high profile event.
