In the eve of the International Champions Cup soccer series, Swiss horologer Hublot hosted brand partner Juventus at its 5th Avenue Boutique in New York.

The July 20 event kicked off the Italian team’s participation in the 2017 International Champions Cup, a two-week rush of friendly matches taking place across the States. Juventus top players Mario Mandzuki, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sami Khedira attended the exclusive gathering, hosted by Hublot U.S. Managing Director Jean-Francois Sberro.

TV personality, former New York Giant quarterback and friend of Hublot, Jesse Palmer engaged the teammates in a Q&A session that prodded the specifics of the game as well as the significance of the Juventus – Hublot partnership, which stretches back five years.

“Hublot has supported the Juventus team since 2012,” said Giorgio Ricci, head of Global Partnerships and Corporate Revenues of Juventus, in a press statement “we have celebrated many successes together and today we’re excited to be here in New York City toasting to our continued friendship.”

Since its inception, the collaboration has given rise to the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Juventus timepiece, which basks in the black and white colors of the “Old Lady” of Italian football. Embossed with the Juventus logo, equipped with a 45mm case of black polished and satin ceramic, and propelled by the bi-retrograde UNICO movement, the watch attests to Hublot’s passion for the adrenaline-driven sport (in 2006, Hublot became the first luxury watch brand to invest in soccer).

Last Saturday, Juventus faced off FC Barcelona at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Although Giorgio Chiellini scored a goal in the second half, Juventus lost to Barcelona 1-2. Still, the 11-time winner of the Italian Cup and 2-time winner of the UEFA Champion League has a couple of more matches to play on U.S. soil – against Paris Saint-Germain on July 26th at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, and against fellow countrymen AS Roma on July 30th at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
