Bulgari Names Model Jon Kortajarena Global Watch Ambassador
Seeking the ideal embodiment of its high-end Italian sensitivities, Bulgari names fashion icon Jon Kortajarena global watches ambassador.
The 31-year old model and actor presented the Italian maison’s groundbreaking Octo Finissimo Automatic at Baselworld 2017. With his Vogue US distinction as the fourth most important male model of all time, Kortajarena’s stern charm and rugged masculinity befit the uniqueness of the new Octo timepiece, which features the thinnest automatic movement on the market.
“It is the gentleman’s watch, with so much style,” said Kortajarena in a press release on the event. “The Octo Finissimo Automatic is no-frills, just handsome refinement with a sleek, monochromatic look that makes it so wearable.”
Trilingual, Kortajarena, who hails from Basque country, Spain, has worked with some of the most renowned fashion photographers, including Peter Lindbergh and Mario Testino. Since 2003, when he was discovered, he has landed his striking looks to the campaigns and catwalks of major houses like Just Cavalli, Versace, Etro and Tom Ford, for whom he serves as a muse. Kortajarena has also starred in several music clips and movies in the USA and his native Spain.
This is not Kortajarena’s first engagement with Bulgari. Exuding what Bulgari calls “the sensual passions of Italy and the sculpted beauty of a Roman statue,” he has already collaborated with the luxury brand on several collections that match his appreciation for bold artistry. In past years, he has fronted Bulgari’s male fragrance and eyewear campaigns and has served as the label’s Save the Children ambassador.
“I love how Bulgari is always pushing the boundaries, it is a brand that seeks and meets challenges, this is something I am always doing in my work too, and it is a big reason why I love Bulgari watches,” said Kortajarena.
At this year’s Baselworld, Kortajarena joined fellow Bulgari watch ambassadors Laura Harrier and Kris Wu, Caroline Vreeland and Jasmine Sanders.
