Hublot and Tristan Eaton Unveil Aerofusion Concrete Jungle Watch
Here are the concrete facts about last night’s gala event in the Lower East Side of New York City, where Hublot and street artist Tristan Eaton unveiled the exceptional Classic Fusion Aerofusion Concrete Jungle watch. Designed by Eaton, one of the most well known muralists in the world, with a permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, the new watch represents Hublot’s first foray into concrete.
Designed as a tribute to New York City, the 45mm Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Special Edition Concrete Jungle watch features a bezel made with concrete elements. The case is microblasted black ceramic and the bezel is a mix of concrete and epoxy resin with black composite resin bezel lugs. The crown, pushers and caseback are created of black ceramic and the case back features a colorful collage (Eaton’s typical style) of the Statue of Liberty. In fact, four years ago, Eaton created the first Liberty painting at he corners of Mulberry and Canal Street in Little Italy. The design on the caseback of the watch recalls that painting and pays homage to the art of fusion.
The watch is powered by the HUB1155 self-winding skeleton chronograph caliber with 207 parts and beating at a fast 4Hz. The watch offers 48 hours of power reserve. It is being sold with a black rubber strap with black textile and stitching and with a black rubber and gray calf leather strap with gray stitching. The buckle is microblasted ceramic and black PVD stainless steel. Just 50 pieces will ever be made, each retailing for $19,500.
“In an homage to one of the world’s most iconic cities, Hublot has continued to fulfill its mission to “Be First, Be Different, Be Unique” by developing a watch with actual concrete elements incorporated in the bezel. We are honored to have worked with Tristan Eaton on this timepiece, and he has elevated the “Concrete Jungle” timepiece with his signature mosaic artistry on the caseback,” said Jean-Francois Sberro, managing director of Hublot of America.
Last night’s event consisted of a lavish cocktail party in the penthouse of Hotel on Rivington, followed by a seated dinner at Café Medi and an after party in a graffiti-covered “underground” lounge – all to honor the city that never sleeps and the incredible work of Tristan Eaton.
