Haute Time’s co-founder and famed NBA player Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks) was a leading member of Team USA men’s basketball, which took the Gold medal at Rio 2016. The big win at the XXXI Summer Olympics means that the men’s basketball team took home its third consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Kevin Durant stood out as a leader and as a lead scorer, making 30 points himself. All team members — Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Klay Thompson, Paul George, DeAndre Jordan, DeMarcus Cousins, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Harrison Barnes and Kyle Lowry — received the Gold Medal.

Melo scored seven points, pulled down seven rebounds and became the top rebounder in Team USA history with 125. This was his fourth Olympic Medal (his first was a bronze). He was emotional at the win.

“I committed to this in 04 and stuck with it. I saw the worst and the best, and now we have three gold medals. I’m excited for me but also for the guys who never experienced anything like this,” Anthony said.

This was Melo’s fourth Olympic Games and his third gold medal, however for 10 of the 12 team players, it was their first Olympic Gold. The team overtook Team Serbia in the final days of the Rio 2016 Olympics. It was the last gold medal to be handed out in Rio.

According to an article published on the Team USA. Org website, this year marks the first time in history that the United States took both the first and last gold medal at Summer Olympic Games. The win also marks the fact that the team has now won 25 straight Olympic games—since the bronze medal in 2004.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski, who announced this was his last Olympic Games, returned as the first coach to win three Olympic gold medals.
