Chopard To Unveil New Haute Jewellery Red And Green Carpet Collections At The Cannes Film Festival In May

Chopard will introduce its new high jewellery Red Carpet and Green Carpet Collections next month during the Cannes Film Festival from May 11 – 22. With exceptional stones and designs to match, the collections are soft and graceful, voluptuous and charming, paying tribute to women for their feminine touch. And for the first time in the industry, traceable emeralds from Zambia are featured in the Green Carpet Collection, already acclaimed for its traceable diamonds and Fairmined gold.

These pieces will soon be worn by some of the world’s most talented and glamourous actresses climbing the stairs of the Palais de Festivals; in the meantime, here is a sneak preview of some of our favourites.

The high jeweller and watchmaker has been Official Partner of the Festival since 1998 when Chopard Co-President and Creative Director Caroline Scheufele was asked to redesign the prestigious Palme d’Or awarded to the Director of the Best Feature Film.

Introduced in 2007 with 60 pieces to mark the Festival’s 60th anniversary, the Red Carpet Collection nine years later comprises a total of 69 mostly one-of-a-kind pieces.

The 2016 Collection (that now includes Red and Green Carpet) is flowing and supple with open worked designs based on rounded shapes, often evoking lacework that gently touches the skin.

Necklaces are sumptuous set with white pear-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds, and spectacular with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds of exceptional quality and cut. A superb tie-necklace features five rows of emerald beads with sapphires, rubellites, tsavorites, topazes and amethysts setting the stage for its magnificent white opal.

While most of the pieces are set in white gold with some rose gold, titanium has been introduced for its light-weight quality, notably for a pair of wide earrings inspired by a paisley motif, set with cabochon-cut sapphires, topazes, and blue and orange sapphires.
