Ulysse Nardin Unveils A Limited Edition Freaklab

Ulysse Nardin has created a new Freaklab with the same unique user experience and an even stronger, bolder look, in a limited edition of 99 pieces.

Evolving from the Freak collection, the first watch to incorporate a silicium escapement in 2001, a diamond escapement in 2005 and the Dual Ulysse escapement that same year, the Freaklab was a headline-maker among collectors and the press from the day it was launched, and this latest release is no exception.

Full details of the characteristics of the first Ulysse Nardin Freaklab launched at Baselworld 2015 can be found in our September report. Major features include a 45 mm case with Caliber UN-210 and 1 hour tourbillon, a new re-centered balance wheel, an added date function (at 4 o’clock) and the new generation UlyChoc safety system of in-house designed and produced shock absorbers. The exclusive hairspring and Dual Ulysse escapement are in Silicium.

Another innovative feature is the easy-to-use rotating bezel held by a safety clip at 6 o’clock. To set the hours and minutes, you simply release the lock device and turn the bezel forward, while a counter-clockwise rotation sets the date. A second bezel over the back of the case winds the mainspring barrel designed for a power reserve of more than seven days, with one full rotation equivalent to 12 hours of reserve.

This new limited edition is made even more unique with special materials that include blackened titanium and carbon fiber. The middle case and horns in blackened titanium and case bezel constructed of carbon fiber ensure high resistance and durability as well as a bold, masculine look.

Entirely black, offset only by white Arabic numerals and blue screws on the upper deck of the movement that shows minutes (the lower deck displays the hours), decorated with a modern wave graphic and carbon fiber pattern that continues throughout the black leather strap, this new limited edition FreakLab is available exclusively at Ulysse Nardin boutiques. Priced at $75,000.
