Only Watch 2015: Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées
It’s not the most important watch of the week at Vacheron Constantin, and that says a lot about the brand. Just days before it unveils the world’s most complicated watch, Vacheron Constantin showcased its Only Watch 2015 entry, a one-of-kind timepiece that demonstrates the expertise of the company’s master craftsmen. While Patek Philippe is once again expected to raise the most money at Only Watch, Vacheron Constantin will be one the most sought-after brands at this year’s charity auction. In 2013, the brand’s Patrimony Traditionnelle World Time raised € 100,00, and the stage seems set for another great year.
This time, Vacheron Constantin is offering a one-of-kind Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées with a deep red enamel chapter ring that confirms the color’s dominance at this year’s charity auction. Released for SIHH in 2014, the first Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées confirmed one thing: No one does skeleton watches quite like Vacheron Constantin! It’s a technique the brand has perfectly mastered. Presented in an 18-carat white gold case, measuring 40 mm diameter, the Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées is a stunning dress watch and display of the brand’s artistic vision of time.
As its name suggests, the Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées is a real work of art balancing harmonious aesthetics and serious mechanics all the way through to the dial. Literally. But the red enamel changes the look of the watch significantly. It enhances the skeletonized dial, providing a stronger contrast and a more spectacular view of the movement. Made of 127 components and 21 jewels, caliber 4400SQ is a hand-wound movement boasting an impressive 65 hours of power reserve.
For Only Watch 2015, Vacheron Constantin has decided to replace the hour mark at 3 o’clock with the name of the auction, while the back of the watch, once again a powerful showcase of the brand’s extremely high level of finishing, features an engraved “N°1/1” to ensure the exclusivity of the timepiece.
The Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées comes with a black Mississippiensis alligator leather strap. This unique timepiece will be auctioned by Phillips Watches on 7 November 2015 in Geneva, with all funds benefiting research of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Those who missed out on last year’s model won’t be making the same mistake twice.
