Haute News: Ulysse Nardin Sails Through 2014
In 2014, Ulysse Nardin has introduced two watches that pay tribute to sail boats from very different generations. We take a look at both to see how they compare.
Ulysse Nardin has made a habit of celebrating magnificent sail ships and earlier this year set its sights on one of Italy’s most esteemed full-rigged frigates: the Amerigo Vespucci. In glorious detail, the Amerigo Vespucci is portrayed through a beautifully enameled dial.
A limited-edition collection of 30 pieces crafted in 18-karat rose and white gold and measuring 40 mm in diameter, the Classico Amerigo Vespucci features a self-winding movement (UN 815 caliber), Chronometer Certificate and water resistance to 50 meters.
Then, Ulysse Nardin wasted no time and introduced the much sportier Marine Diver Monaco Limited Edition, which crowns a six-year partnership between the watch brand and the principality’s Yatch Show. The timepiece once again evokes the brand’s connection to the maritime world, from Ulysse Nardin’s anchor emblem, proudly displayed at 2 o’clock, to the dial’s sailing boat-like motif.
However the Marine Diver Monaco Limited Edition is designed this time for extreme conditions, and features a unidirectional rotating bezel, with screw-locked crown and case-back that enables the wearer to dive to up to 300 meters underwater.
Limited to 100 pieces, engraved and numerated, available with a rubber strap in blue and red, it is both a highly reliable diving instrument and a fine sports watch that can be worn on every occasion.
