Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder Watch Can Unlock Your Aston Martin
Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled the latest result of its collaboration with Aston Martin. The new AMVOX2 Transponder watch, which was unveiled at Baselworld 2014, can actually lock or unlock your Aston Martin or help you find your car by turning on the headlights.
Housed in a 44mm titanium case, the AMVOX2 Transponder is a unique mechanical and electronic hybrid. The dial features the traditional hours and minutes, but also features the transponder mechanism. The driver can activate the remote lock/unlock function on any current model of Aston Martin via a micro-transmitter built into the double case-back of the watch. The antenna of the system is visible on the dial between 4 and 8 o’clock. A thermal vapour deposition beneath the watch glass means that a light touch on the “Open” or “Close” sensor is all that is needed to lock or unlock the Aston Martin and light up the headlights.
The dial also features a central chronograph hand, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, a date window at 5 o’clock and an aperture at 6 o’clock where an Aston Martin logo on the Calibre 751E can be seen spinning on its axis at the rate of once a minute. Rather than the traditional stop/start pushers on the right side of the case, this timepiece features the AMVOX2’s signature vertical-trigger start, stop and reset system via the watch glass for the chronograph function.
