Piaget Dazzles at 2014 Independent Spirit Awards
The monsoon rains abated for the epic awards ceremony held on Santa Monica beach on a overcast Saturday in March. Piaget, the French brand of spectacular jewels and masterful watches co-sponsored the event for the 7th consecutive year. Their elegant lounge was decorated with bouquets of magenta roses, and a chandelier ceiling. On display were the maison’s newest creations as well as their rare vintage pieces which heightened the intensity of the tent.
Piaget was the watch of choice for winner of Best Male Lead, Matthew McConnaughey who wore a Gouverneur Chronograph in rose gold on an alligator strap with stunning cufflinks. The Piaget Rose collection was worn by several actresses; Anna Kendrick, Sarah Paulson and Greta Gerwig among them. Angela Bassett wore a tangerine fitted dress and sparkled in gold and diamond rose-drop earrings and bracelets. An Altiplano watch completed her ensemble. Kristen Bell never looked better in her electric blue strapless number with Piaget Possession earrings and a gray dial polo watch in white gold and diamonds. Gong Li stunned in a white column gown and twinkled in a pair of rose Passion torsade earrings and Rose cocktail ring and gold and diamond watch.
The afternoon came to a close with the producers of “12 Year’s A Slave”, accepting the award for Best Feature along with Best Director, Steve McQueen who wore a Piaget Polo Forty-Five time piece. The guests returned to the lounge where Cate Blanchett, and Brad Pitt were among the celebrities who enjoyed the flowing champagne and were interviewed by journalists.
The passionate artists and actors nominated for the Spirit awards are pioneers of truth in story-telling and Piaget is a champion of this kind of independent thinking.
