Close Up: Corum Admiral’s Cup Seafender 47 Tourbillon Chronograph
Today we’re taking a close up look at the new Admiral’s Cup Seafender 47 Tourbillon Chronograph by Corum. According to the manufacture, this technical timepiece was designed for daily wear, whether in a sporting or an urban environment.
The Admiral’s Cup Seafender 47 Tourbillon Chronograph begins with a twelve-sided 47mm diameter case in either aluminum with an anthracite grey ceramized coating, 5N 18K red gold or red gold adorned with diamonds. The inner bezel ring features nautical pennants, while the brass dial features hours, minutes, a central chronograph hand, the date on a subdial at 3 o’clock and small seconds on a subdial at 6 o’clock.
The 60-second tourbillon, which is showcased in its 14.08 mm carriage between 10 and 11 o’clock on the dial, offers a glimpse of the automatic caliber CO 398. Beating at a high frequency of 4 Hz (compared with 3 Hz for most classic tourbillons) and oscillating at a speed of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement ensures exceptional precision, further reinforced by the automatic winding system ensuring a constant level of energy. The integrated chronograph is controlled by a column-wheel governing its functions. The hand-decorated movement and ruthenium-coated oscillating weight can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback.
For the diamond-adorned versions of this model, there are several variations. While all feature a 60-minute chronograph and small seconds subdial paved with 88 round diamonds (approx. 0.13 carats) and 9 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 0.04 carats) as index, the differences between the models relate to the case. On the first, the bezel, lugs and pushpiece guards are adorned with 204 round diamonds (approx. 2.13 carats). On the second, the same 144 round diamonds (approx. 0.63 carats) embellish the lugs and pushpiece guards, with 36 baguette-cut stones (approx. 4.71 carats) on the bezel. A third jewelry version features 60 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 6.01 carats) set on the bezel and lugs, while the pushpiece guards feature 36 round diamonds (approx. 0.05 carats).
The Admiral’s Cup Seafender 47 Tourbillon Chronograph can be completed by several strap options; black crocodile leather, a rubber-look leather for the non-gemset models, and brown crocodile leather for the jewelry creations.
