Girard-Perregaux Helps Steve Nash Host Charity Soccer Match
This week luxury watchmaker Girard-Perregaux helped two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash host his annual charity soccer match. The manufacture joined Nash in New York City as the sponsor of the 6th Edition of the Steve Nash Foundation Showdown.
NBA and professional soccer players joined Nash for the 8-a-side soccer match at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where fans lined the field to take it in. Sports icons like Massimo Ambrosini (AC Milan), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Giuseppe Rossi (florentina), Joakim Noah and Marco Belinelli (Chicago Bulls), Oguchi Onyewu (Malaga CF), Emmerson Boyce (Wigan), Stuart Holden (Bolton), Mikel Alonso (Liga Veteran), Sammy Amoebi (Newcastle), Rod Fanni (Olympique de Marseille) and Baron Davis (New York Knicks) participated in the match to support the Steve Nash Foundation’s work to benefit underserved children.
AC Milan’s Ambrosini received an award from Girard-Perregaux in honor of his incredible career, while Chicago Bulls center Noah was chosen as the game’s Most Valuable Player. Both players received a Chrono Hawk timepiece from Girard-Perregaux (a fitting choice for both of their sports considering its steel case and rubber strap).
After the match, Nash, fellow players, friends and fans gathered for Showdown After Hours, an invite-only cocktail party and live auction at the East Village bar The Penny Farthing. All of the proceeds from the auction went to benefit the Foundation’s direct services to children around the world.
