Bomberg Delivers Big at BaselWorld
One of the best parts of going to BaselWorld is searching for the next big thing in the watch world. Every watch can’t be a tourbillon or watch over $25,000 – sometimes it’s great just to see a brand putting together a strong product at an introductory price. This allows all watch lovers to be able to buy, whether for fun or as a first-ever purchase, giving the consumer a sophisticated piece for an affordable price point. This year at BaselWorld, we were introduced to a brand called Bomberg through a mutual friend, and all we can say is WOW!
For watches under $750, we have never seen anything better for this price point (at first glance I personally thought I was looking at watches running over $5000). When I was told the price point, I thought it should be shared with our readers, as I predict that within the next twelve months this watch will be one of the hautest timepieces in the watch world. I saw two of Bomberg’s three lines; the Bomber 1968 and the Bomberg Maven. Both lines run 44mm, while the third line, called Semper, runs in a 42mm, which is great for a girl.
First up is the Bomberg 1968. It comes in a 44mm and the watch movement is a chronograph Miyota 0S11. I saw four different color choices, as there were many different choices. Some were very sporty, while others can be dressy. For example, one of the pieces I saw had a nice face with a brown leather strap. Another was a black face, with light green numbers and a black rubber strap. Another black watch face watch had orange numbers with a black leather strap, and orange stiching on the leather band. Finally I saw one with a white face, blue numbers, and a blue leather strap with white stiching. All of the watches were very impressive (especially considering the price point). I can see people buying 3-4 watches, to wear with different outfits and moods. The rubber strap watch would be great on the beach, while the others would be good with a suit. Best of all, the watches run under $750, giving the consumer a good looking chronograph.
The next piece I saw was from the Maven collection. This is another 44m watch, that is a chronograph Miyota OS25 with retrograde 1/20 sec. The watch comes with a nylon strap with stitching, giving it a really nice look. Of the two pieces I saw, one was black with orange numbers on the face and stiching, (a nice sporty look), while the other had a gray face with tan numbers and a tan strap.
Part of being innovative in giving new trends to the watch world. Consider the success Technomarine had with a less sophisticated watch. Equally, we feel that Bomberg watches will catch on, and we predict that within the next 12 months you’ll be seeing them on well-dressed wrists everywhere.
