Baume and Mercier | Swiss Luxury Watchmaking

We have plenty of stunning timepieces by Baume and Mercier, including the new men’s collection, Clifton.

Founded in 1830, Baume & Mercier is the seventh-oldest Swiss watch brand, and thus has a long heritage to tap into for inspiration. The new men’s collection, Clifton, is closely inspired by a model from the 1950s – right down to the unique numeral font on its minimalist dial. The Clifton is also uniquely representative of the brand, as it was initially designed to give the brand a greater, more accessible appeal – it is priced beginning at $3,000. Movements for the Clifton 1830, the cornerstone of the collection, are made by La Joux-Perret. There are eight references, of which the Clifton Complete Calendar is particularly notable. A triple calendar, with moon phase display, it contains a Dubois-Dupraz movement.

As promised two years ago, Baume & Mercier keeps the Linea, its ladies’ fashion line, fashionably current by continuously introducing new straps. This year, the update involves not just new colors but new techniques, including an assortment of straps crafted in hand-woven leather. They are available in colors that correspond to the key shades of the Spring/Summer 2013 season, and were designed in collaboration with brand ambassador Emmanuelle Chriqui, a Canadian actress. Two new mechanical models from the Linea 27mm collection indicate the brand’s commitment to substance in addition to style.
