Blancpain is well known for its complicated and iconic men’s watches, including the celebrated Fifty Fathoms diving watches and the Carrousel tourbillons from the Le Brassus collection. But this has tended to sometimes overshadow the fact that Blancpain has also consistently introduced mechanical ladies’ watches, including several complications, with particular attention to metiers dial finishes. Among the watches in the brand’s Women’s collection are a Flyback Chronograph, a Complete Calendar with Moonphase and a Dual Time Zone, all beautiful watches, set with diamonds and with functions equal to the technology in the men’s pieces.The spectacular Chronograph Large Date, set to be introduced at Baselworld this coming April, is a spectacular example of Blancpain’s talent for combining the decorative, artisanal side of watchmaking with innovative complications.The two-tiered mother-of-pearl dial is inset with two lines of diamonds that separate the time display – in Roman numerals – from the chronograph totalizers that use random-sized Arabic numerals. The addition of a large, double-digit date display balances the dial composition. The bezel is also set with diamonds, for a total of 40, or 2.24 carats. It contains the Blancpain automtic caliber 26F8G, with a spectacular, petal-shaped, gold oscillating weight.
