Hublot Chairman Jean-Claude Biver Named Man of the Year by WBC (VIDEO)

Jean-Claude Biver, the chairman of luxury watchmaker Hublot, was recently honored for his charity work with the World Boxing Council. Biver was given the “Man of the Year” award for his humanitarian work, as voted for unanimously by the WBC Board of Governors.

The event was held in Cancun, Mexico, with the help of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, the WBC Board of Governors, WBC President José Sulaiman, Hublot’s president of Latin America Rick De Lacroix, and legendary fighters such as Julio Cesar Chavez and Jeff Fenech. In the past, this award was received by icons like Nelson Mandela and Carlos Slim, among others.

Mr. Biver has been a longstanding supporter of boxers and the sport in general. This fall, Hublot auctioned off twelve one-of-a-kind King Power WBC watches to benefit the charities of the World Boxing Council. More than $1,000,000 (US) was raised for the WBC’s charities, which range from the retired boxer’s pension fund to the provision of emergency services in over 40 countries worldwide.
