Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Duomètre Unique Travel Time an Horlogerie First
Luxury chronograph manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre have unveiled their latest timepiece which represents an innovative “first” in the world of fine watchmaking: the Duomètre Unique Travel Time reinterprets Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Dual-Wing movement and the watch, which presents dual time zones on its dial, will be a treat for those who travel often and appreciate fine haute chronographs.
The Dual-Wing in this situation is divided up into two separate mechanisms; the first one is for the local time of the wearer, and the second is for an additional time zone of the wearer’s choice. Each of the two mechanisms has a power reserve of 50 hours, and the same crown can be used to wind both of the barrels. A day/night indicator and hour disc are conveniently located at the 6 o’clock position for quick reference and balancing everything are two counters which are symmetrically placed on the dial. The dial also features the numbers 9 and 7 in red to pay tribute to the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique.
Esthetic features on the watch include a sapphire crystal case which reveals the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 383. The back of the watch is engraved with the names of cities that correspond to 24 time zones; and hand-finished details such as the bridges and gear chain tie the entire look together in a discreetly elegant manner.
The watch, which is made of 18K white gold, is only available in a limited edition of 100 pieces. It was created specifically to mark the opening of the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in Place Vendôme, the famed Parisian square. The Duomètre Unique Travel Time goes on sale November 20.
