Olympian Ben Ainslie to Appear at Salon QP November 8
Famed Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie CBE who has thrice won the British Olympic Association’s Athlete of the Year Trophy for Sailing will be attending the Salon QP’s opening champagne reception which will be taking place this coming Thursday.
Corum, the Swiss haute horlogerie brand founded in 1955 by watchmaker René Bannwart and his uncle Gaston Ries which has been supporting the Olympian for almost ten years, will be presenting their star athlete with a steel Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor, of which only 72 will be made.
The 60-hour power reserve timepiece will function with an astounding mechanical automatic movement at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per minute. At the six o’clock position, there is a stunning view of the watch’s 12 mm tourbillon carriage. The steel model will feature a rhodium plated tourbillon bridge, and the reddish-gold version will have a gilded open tourbillon bridge.
The timepiece is said to be the perfect blend of raw power balanced by elegance and therefore a more than apt watch for an Olympian such as Ainslie.
The general public will have the opportunity to toast Ainslie’s success in sport; a strictly limited amount of tickets to the reception on the opening day at Salon PQ are still available but those interested are advised to act quickly as they are likely to get taken very soon. The event is to take place at The Saatchi Gallery in London.
