Year of the Snake models from Vacheron Constantin Métiers D’Art’s The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac Timepiece Collection Debut

The Métiers d’Art Collection from haute horlogerie manufacturer Vacheron Constantin is celebrating the Legend of the Chinese Zodiac with beautifully crafted Year of the Snake watches.  The special collection will be created around the Chinese 12-year cycle, with the Year of the Snake models being the first works of horlogerie art unveiled to the public.

Featured on the Year of the Snake timepieces are a motifs that are inspired by Chinese iconography leaves are detailed on the face of the dial, and a simply stunning snake figure almost looks alive under the protective dial cover.  Meticulous attention has been paid to every small detail, the watch is a true masterpiece of superior craftsmanship.

Using the Geneva Grand Feu enamelling technique, the watches operate with a mechanical self-winding Caliber 2460 G4 movement.   The 12.74 mm thick watch boasts of a 40-hour power reserve, 30 metres of water resistance, and is encased in either a platinum or rose gold case.  Finally, the watch has a caseback of transparent sapphire crystal.  The purchaser gets to chose between an engraved platinum or gold snake, and the hand-engraved gold dial is covered with either a Grand Feu bleu or bronze enamelling.

The year 2013 is engraved on the back of each Year of the Snake timepiece, and collectors may want to line up for these unique watches; only 12 of each color will be available for purchase.
