Haute News: Patek Philippe Unveils Ref 5470P, Its First 1/10th Second Chronograph
On the heels of an exciting Watches & Wonders for Patek Philippe, the brand has unveiled yet another 2022 model: the Ref. 5470P-001 1/10th Second Monopusher Chronograph. The new timepiece is the brand’s first-ever wrist-chronograph that measures and displays 1/10th of a second.

To accomplish this mechanical achievement, Patek adapted the CH 29- 535 PS caliber — the first Patek Philippe classically built chronograph movement entirely designed and produced in its workshops and accompanied by six patents in 2009. The frequency is now increased from 4 to 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour, or ten steps per second), and the movement is equipped with an additional chronograph mechanism exclusively dedicated to 1/10th of a second. And, to ensure fast and efficient reading of measured times, the movement developers created a patented system of concentric seconds and fractions of a second indications. The monopusher chronograph features two central hands — one allows the seconds to be read in the traditional sense and the other revolves around the dial in 12 seconds, covering 12 sectors, each subdivided into ten sections corresponding to tenths of a second.

For ultimate precision, Patek used its Oscillomax® ensemble that had been developed by the “Patek Philippe Advanced Research” department for the first time in its current collection. The high-tech regulator mechanism has three innovative components that rely on all advantages of the Silinvar® technology.

The timepiece is designed with a deep blue varnished dial, white gold Breguet numerals paired with a platinum case and calfskin leather strap with contrasting red stitching to create an elevated sporty look.
