Jaeger-LeCoultre Gives Back

The Gliterati lined up last Thursday at the 69th Annual Venice Film Festival to show their support for a maternal care center in Afghanistan. The center is being built by the charitable organization Emergency with the aid of luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre, which has supported Emergency’s outreach to the civilian victims of armed conflicts since 1994.

Italian movie stars Riccardo Scamarcio and Cristiana Capotondi strolled the red carpet with Venice International Film Festival Director Alberto Barbera as well Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jérôme Lambert. The luminaries carried roses in their hands and special editions of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s famous Reverso watches on their wrists. The special editions feature a rose, serving as a symbol of hope for civilians ravaged by war, painted on a canvas of white enamel.

The aid to Emergency comes at a crucial point in the development on the maternity center, located in Anabah, Afghanistan. Midwives, nurses and doctors are all in great demand at the facility, both for the health of the newborns as well as the mothers.
