Last evening, Wednesday, September 8th, luxury Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin opened NYFW with a start-studded event, celebrating a striking new Flagship Boutique at 28 East 57th Street, ushering in a new era for the brand.
“It was a magical evening celebrating Vacheron Constantin’s new Flagship Grand Opening in New York,” said Alexander Schmiedt, President of Americas for Vacheron Constantin. “We kicked off the latest chapter in a centuries-old love story with the city, where our guests went on a surreal journey to 1921 and back again to 2021, in honor of our iconic watch, the American 1921 – relaunched this year in white and gold.”
The night began with supermodel Karen Elson’s electric performance of her new single, “Lightning Strikes,” which left the fashionable crowd eager for more. But that was just the beginning of the journey at the new store, which carries powerful symbolism for the Maison, including the 100th anniversary of the American 1921 timepiece.

For the trip back to 1921, partygoers were transported via vintage vehicles and luxurious Rolls-Royce motor cars to a secret penthouse speakeasy at 111 West 57th Street and the penthouse at Steinway Hall. High above the city streets on the 21st floor, they were treated to cocktails and an elegant dinner under the stars. Guests included Katie Holmes, Nico Tortorella and Michelle Hicks, who were later surprised by a powerful performance from Tony Award winner, Alan Cumming. The performance included a mash-up from his classic musical “Cabaret,” which received a standing ovation for “Is that all there is?”
