Richard Mille is a name world-renowned in the watch industry for creating some of the most highly coveted luxury timepieces. His latest release—the RM 25-01 Tourbillon Adventure—will be no exception. A collaboration with famed Hollywood actor, producer, director and artist Sylvester Stallone—the star of some iconic films including Rocky, Rambo and Creed—the piece is limited to only 20 and priced at a cool $983,000.

“An iconic actor of 1980s Hollywood, Sylvester Stallone is a man of many, sometimes contradictory, facets,” began Mille. “When John Simonian, my American partner, introduced us, I was struck by how nice he was, by his sense of humour and his wry wit. His persona is serene and endearing, authentic and sincere. He is also an artist, whose deeply personal work is rooted in his passion for great painting and sculpture. He doesn’t cheat. Stallone assumes sole responsibility for his creations. I see that as strength, as powerful…The RM 25-01 is like no watch that has ever existed before. Like Sylvester Stallone himself, it is completely unfet- tered. Its development was especially slow and painstaking, and as an object it is completely in sync with the brand: extreme, designed for extreme conditions, useful, sophisticated and complex, yet unbelievably tough—the ultimate timepiece!”

Similar in its charisma to several of Stallone’s on-screen roles, the RM 25-01 Adventure Tourbillon chronograph is incredibly durable, made to withstand a bevy of less-than-desirable natural environments. And of course, Sly has been a fan of the brand for quite some time, even touting an RM 032 on a red strap for the duration of The Expendables—the feature film he directed and where he played macho man Barney Ross. Perfect for Barney, the RM 25-01 features a compass, specially requested by Stallone, as well as Richard Mille’s signature calibre movement.

The new ‘competition’ chronograph and the tourbillon complication are supported by its baseplate and bridges, made from grade 5 titanium, reducing the overall weight of the watch, as well as a lowering of energy consumption, by 50-percent. And in case the wearer is in darkness, the unique 24-hour display is integral in distinguishing from a.m. and p.m., while the 70-hour power-reserve and water resistance up to 100 meters are additional key features.

The timepiece comes with two interchangeable bezels. One is a compass in grade 5 titanium with a DLC coating, as well as a fixed and a rotating bezel. A Carbon TPT®cover with a mirrored back and a 12 o’clock slot provides increased accuracy of sightings with the compass needle, while the sapphire crystals tout an anti-reflective treatment and an anti-magnetic coating to prevent any external disturbances on the movement and compass.

The second bezel is bidirectional in Carbon TPT® and titanium, has a 360° graduated disc, a 24-hour scale and indicators for cardinal directions. The watch simply needs sunlight to identify North, South, East and West directions. Furthermore, for the true adventurer, the watch houses a “hermetic compartment in grade 5 titanium can hold water puri cation tablets that make a litre of any water safe to drink in 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the level of pollution,” per the brand, at 2 o’clock.

And of course, the natural rubber strap with a camouflage motif and a grade 5 titanium pin-buckle is Rambo-approved.
