Representing the largest yacht built to date in Holland, the 110m Oceanco designed by Russian designer Igor Lobanov was delivered in 2017, but is now currently offered on the market by Burgess yachts due to the unfortunate passing of its owner.

Designing and building yachts is very much horses for courses–delivering a product carefully tailored to the owners’ requests.

In MY Jubilee Igor Lobanov has reinforced his credentials in the superyacht sector with considerable aplomb. The mass of this 4,500 GT yacht being wrapped in sinuous lines so expertly drawn, the superstructure appears to effortlessly cascade down over the hull like a frozen waterfall.

While still incorporating the extended aft deck and pool, something of a signature for Oceanco, Lobanov has demonstrated his bold temerity by incorporating into the design something of an optical illusion.

His insertion of tinted glazing into the bulwarks not only creates the illusion of additional decks, but also breaks with the traditional monotony of ‘regularly stacked layers’ by incorporating irregular spacing.

The yacht’s interior was designed by the Australian Sam Sorgiovanni. Incorporated into his design are subtle hints at the commissioning owners’ Middle Eastern origins, but these are only delicate elements and the overall ambience is warm, welcoming and contemporary, with just a splashes of gold employed to effective highlight the occasional stone column.

Intricate parquet wood flooring borders a deep pile custom carpet, while the expansive nature of the main salon naturally lends itself to the majilis social areas favored in the Gulf States.

The culture and royal status of the original owner resulted in the requirement for a highly private yacht, leading the designer and builder to perhaps place considerably less emphasis on expansive exterior entertainment areas than they would usually, and instead focused on the provision of protected interior spaces.

The result being, apart from the large aft main deck terrace and a relatively modest sundeck for a yacht of this size, outdoor living is restricted to token banquettes on truncated aft decks.
