Jaeger-LeCoultre impressed with a new line of fine timpieces at SIHH 2015 that included the addition of a meteorite dial in the Master Calendar collection. Now the brand returns with a sportier and industrial-inspired watch for every day wear.

According to Jaeger-LeCoultre, functionality is the watch’s primary concern, and while this timepiece is still a fine example of haute horlogerie, there seems to be a rugged pragmatism to it. Features like a case made from TiVan 15 titanium alloy, a high-tech ultra scratch resistant ceramic bezel, and a fast strap-change system incorporated into the case back prove that this isn’t a watch designed to be displayed and gawked at on a mantle or a frilly box, but one meant to be worn daily and used thoroughly.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has gone through serious lengths to ensure that the watch’s diverse feature set remains simple and easy to use, thanks to a crown integrated function selector that promises a smooth transition between watch functions without requiring the crown to be pulled out, an operation that can sometimes prove to be overly delicate. An added benefit of having the crown fixed inside the device is greatly improved water resistance.

Finally, the watch employs a unique time setting function that allows the seconds hand to continue its movement while the watch is being set, allowing a more accurate synchronization with a time source.

The Master Compressor Extreme Lab 2 is available in a limited run of 300 pieces. For more information, please visit the official Jaeger-LeCoultre website.
