Introducing The Chanel Boy.Friend Watch

The family of Chanel watches is expanding. After introducing several new models at Baselworld 2015, including the Première Flying Tourbillon Openwork, Chanel is launching an entirely new line of watches called the Boy.Friend. Presented to the press this week en avant-première at the Chanel watches and jewellery boutique, Place Vendôme in Paris, the new collection will be in shops worldwide as of September 2015.

The Chanel Boy.Friend is a new, unlimited line that should easily find its place among the permanent collections. From Chanel’s first watch, the very feminine Première introduced in 1987 to the current bestsellers for men from the J12 line, Chanel has been developing its timepieces offer with brio.

The Boy.Friend has a clean, pure design described as « timeless and precious with personality ». While the case is reminiscent of the octagonal shape of the « Première », the inside line of the bezel that frames the dial has a straight, rectangular form, making the appearance bolder and more masculine, an influence inspired by the fashion style of Gabrielle Chanel, according to the brand.

The Boy.Friend features a finely guilloché opaline dial devoid of any hour numbers, and has an onyx set crown and sapphire crystal. Delivered with black alligator straps, additional colours of red, white, or navy blue may be purchased.

The Boy.Friend is available in two sizes. The 34,60 mm x 26,70 mm model shows a date counter at 6 o’clock and is equipped with a high-precision quartz movement, while the larger model of 37 mm x 28.60 mm features a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and boasts a manual-winding mechanical movement with a power reserve of 42 hours.

Both sizes come in 18K white gold with brilliant-cut diamonds, and in 18K beige gold with or without diamonds. The larger set model has 66 diamonds on the bezel, while the smaller model has 64. The buckles on the set versions have 48 diamonds.

The Boy.Friend makes for great arm candy. Its assertive look is very appealing and the watch is so comfortable on the wrist, I almost forgot I was wearing it!
