Haute Time’s 2014 Watch of the Year: Blancpain Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune

Yesterday we crowned Blancpain the winner of Watch Madness. The manufacture’s Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune was chosen by readers around the world as Haute Time’s 2014 Watch of the Year, beating out 63 other contenders to win our voter-driven contest.

Here’s a look at your 2014 Watch of the Year, the Blancpain Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune:

Blancpain Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune

Housed in a 42mm double-stepped case of either 18K red gold or platinum, the Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune boasts the first-ever combination of a carrousel and a moon phase by Blancpain. It features a white grand feu enamel dial with painted enamel Roman numerals, hollowed sage leaf-shaped hands for the hours and minutes, and a blued-steel serpentine hand for the date. The carrousel carriage is visible at 12 o’clock, while the moon phase indicator is visible directly across the dial at 6 o’clock.

The Blancpain 225L movement is visible via the sapphire crystal case back, which is decorated with Côtes de Genève and features an openworked and striated oscillating weight. The movement, which is equipped with silicon balance-spring technology, is comprised of 281 parts, with 61 for the carrousel carriage alone. It boasts a five-day power reserve. Two under-lug correctors adjust the date and moon phase.

The Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune is completed by a chocolate brown (for the red gold) or black (for the platinum) alligator leather strap.
